NIWA is a leading environmental and natural resource science institute and key provider of atmospheric, freshwater and marine research and consultancy services in New Zealand.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced engineer to make a significant contribution to the New Zealand (NZ) research landscape by working within the National eScience Infrastructure (NeSI).

The New Zealand eScience Infrastructure (htltps://www.nesi.org.nz/) is a collaboration of five institutions, including the National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research (NIWA), working in partnership with the Crown, to provide High Performance Computing (HPC), analytics, and consultancy services to the NZ Research sector, and industry. NeSI's primary aim is to grow the computing and analytics capability of researchers to ensure New Zealand's future prosperity.

A key component of NIWA's research infrastructure is the High Performance Computing Facility (HPCF) (http://www.niwa.co.nz/our-services/hpcf), which is used to support research activities in climate, chemistry climate, weather, river flood, sea state, ocean, sea-level, and inundation modelling and forecasting, as well as an operational environmental forecasting system (EcoConnect). We are seeking a Systems Engineer for our HPCF Operations Group, part of the NeSI (national) Platforms Service. In this role you will provide systems support to operational and science users. Daily monitoring and maintenance of systems, servers, storage and services, for correct functionality and optimum performance are key responsibilities of this position. There will also be an opportunity to help us extend and enhance OpenStack deployments from the bare metal.

We are looking for an operations expert with a few years of experience in Cluster management and operating Openstack environment who also has:

- a tertiary qualification in computer science and/or other sciences, and equivalent work experience in System Administration, Development, IT Operations / DevOps.
- a solid understanding of Linux / UNIX preferably in HPC service, datacentre, or cloud computing environment.
- parallel filesystem knowledge (GPFS, Spectrum Scale, Spectrum Scale Protect).
- strong scripting skills; we love to automate! Provisioning systems, configuration and change management (Python, Ansible, Puppet)
- an understanding of networking fundamentals and protocols (Including InfiniBand).

You are a team player, excellent at troubleshooting, root cause analysis and generally love to solve technical problems. You will have strong communication skills both written and verbal and be able to articulate technical and non-technical concepts. This is a specialised role requiring a background working with scientific applications and previous experience in supporting researchers. Your educational background will include a B.Sc. degree in a computationally intensive field of science; e.g. climate, environmental science, computational physics or chemistry, or preferably a M.Sc. in above disciplines.

You're already skilled at sharing your knowledge through both formal training events and your day to day engagement, and as you keep growing your professional knowledge about MPI/OpenMP and HPC practices, you'll gain the confidence of research groups around NZ.

Job Description:

Currently running Ubuntu 16.04.2 with an OTS CMS which we are no experiencing issues with tearing and lagging.

Setup is also having problems with drivers outputting content to both Display Port and HDMI. Long term we require split screens however due to urgency mirroring of output is the immediate goal.

Our client is looking for a Security Architect to deliver pragmatic and secure solutions for our client who are an industry leader in Wireless/ M2M/ Telecommunications - solutions space. Working on a variety of initiatives, you will be guiding and advising on; setting standards as well as develop/assess/approve solution architectures.

Working with speed, you cannot procrastinate or hold up a program of work. Always thinking "outside the box", you do things cleverly and achieve deliverables in secure way.

The role:

Responsible for company's embedded device architecture in relation to security policies and measures - specifically Linux architecture, software coding methods / best practices etc
Conduct random code audits / reviews.
Responsible for liaising with 3rd party (outsourced) contractors to conduct code / system reviews and penetration testing.

Experience Required:

10+ years' experience in embedded Linux including demonstrable cybersecurity experience
Background as a coder, ideally developing within an embedded Linux framework environment
Proven ability to examine security from a holistic view, including threat modelling, specifications, implementation, testing, and vulnerability assessment
Expert knowledge of software development security principles, concepts, and best practices
Advanced understanding of general information security concepts and principles, system architectures and development
Ability to write tools to automate certain security tasks
Understanding of common development methodologies and relevant deployment and automation tools and its integration with best practice security guidelines

My client is a large and respected NSW Government Agency based in Parramatta.

The role

Seeking a Linux Systems Administrator to take ownership of the Redhat Linux and Oracle Virtual Infrastructure environment in both a project and BAU capacity.

Responsibilities

The role will involve Enterprise wide monitoring, new installations, regular patching and upgrades of all RHEL operating platforms.

Experience & skills required

Installation and administration of Oracle Virtual Servers and VMs (OVM)
Installing and managing Red Hat Linux 6 & 7
Enterprise monitoring experience with either Nagios, Groundworks or Zabbix including PHP / Jboss / Tomcat and infrastructure monitoring
Renewal Java security certificates
Installation and securing Tomcat/ Jboss and PHP application infrastructure
Bash Shell scripting
Redhat Linux Patching

Terms

Contract to start Monday 27th November 2017, interviews to commence this week

Applicants must have full working rights in Australia to apply
The contract will be across business hours and weekends
